DONT STRESS ABOUT THE FUTURE
SCRIPTURE: JOHN 16: 13 (AMPL)
”But when He, the Spirit of Truth (the Truth-giving Spirit) comes, He will guide you into all the Truth (the whole, full Truth). For He will not speak His own message [on His own authority]; but He will tell whatever He hears [from the Father; He will give the message that has been given to Him], and He will announce and declare to you the things that are to come [that will happen in the future].”
There is a lot that our Lord Jesus said and taught concerning the ministry of the Holy Spirit in our lives both on a personal level and on a group level like the local church. It is refreshing to know that one of the very important needs of life is addressed by the ministry of the Holy Spirit. In today’s verse, we are told by our Lord Jesus Christ that, ”…the Holy Spirit would show us things to come.
What a mighty promise! Consequently, the knowledge of God’s plan for your life and what the future holds for you should not be a source of worry for you as a child of God anymore. Praise be to God! One of the reasons the Holy Spirit lives in us is to show us the future.
Since God has fulfilled his promise by sending the Holy Spirit to live in us, this promise is now a provision. This should be enough to get every believer settled mentally and confident to live joyfully daily. Why? Because decisions regarding the future are not easy to handle at all.
The reality is that only God knows all about the future. History teaches us a lot about the past. Current affairs, especially the news keeps us abreast of what is happening now and in recent times. However, concerning the future, all of us have very little or no knowledge. This is what makes decision making about the future a serious matter. Usually, certain decisions can impact our lives negatively or positively more than others.
Decisions about whom to marry, which job to choose in the midst of several options and where to invest money are just a few that can have a lasting impact on you more than others. People also ask some big questions like ” what does tomorrow hold for me? What do I do tomorrow? How do I ensure that the decisions I make today shape my future positively rather than negatively? ” The Holy Spirit knows about all that the Father has planned for you. He also knows how the future and world events will unfold.
That is why we must be totally yielded to the Holy Spirit continually. Otherwise, we will deprive ourselves of vital information from the Spirit that is intended to make us a huge success. The future of your life and the future of this world we live in are all known to the Holy Spirit living inside us. In addition to the written Word of God and the counsel of your Pastor, which are two major sources of counsel in times of decision making, this is one vital ministry the Holy Spirit wants to fulfil in your life. Are you willing and ready to cooperate with Him?
PRAYER
I thank you, Father, for your love and faithfulness towards me. Indeed, your commitment to me and my success is simply awesome. I bless you for giving me the Holy Spirit to indwell me and especially to direct me regarding the future. I respond to your grace and yield to you, Holy Spirit, so that my life and decisions would be influenced and guided by you in Jesus’s name, Amen.
