YOU ARE THE TEMPLE OF GOD
SCRIPTURE: 1 Cor 3:16-17 KJV
”Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.”
In the New Testament, the word “temple” can refer to the individual believer, the collective local assembly (church) as well as the entire or universal Church of Christ. The first expression of the New Testament Temple is the New Creature or Believer in Christ as an individual. Jesus was the first to express the body as an actual temple of him and a potential temple for those of us who will become God’s children as he declared in John 2:18-21;
”Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things? Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? But he spake of the temple of his body” (KJV)
Then, the Apostle Paul, expressly established the concept of the body as a Temple in his first letter to the Corinthians; ”Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.” (1 Cor 3:16-17 KJV)
The New Creature’s body is God’s temple because He bought us with a price – purchased with his own blood and He lives in us (Acts 20:28, 1 Cor 6:20)The Spirit of God dwells PERMANENTLY IN THIS TEMPLE.
God’s intention has been to DWELL PERMANENTLY WITH MAN; ”And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;”
(John 14:16 KJV)
He’s in you now, and you’re in Him. He didn’t come into you to leave again after some time; He’s with you and in you forever! Thus, everywhere you go, God goes because you’re His house. He talks in you, and He sees through your eyes. You’re a God-carrying vessel, and you carry His presence in you everywhere. When you arrive, God arrives, Hallelujah!
CONFESSION
I’m a God-carrier, the home of His presence; I could never fail or be defeated, because the greater One lives in me. I impact my world with His divine presence today, and saturate my environment with His glory and righteousness. Blessed be God!
