TOPIC : THE MAN GOD USES
SCRIPTURE: GENESIS 41:38 (NKJV) ”And Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is the Spirit of God_?”
The Lord Jesus Christ made it very clear, especially in John’s Gospel that the coming of the Holy Spirit would be profitable and advantageous to us. Why? Because that is how any man or woman could experience the indwelling presence of God on a personal level and thereby receive salvation too at the same time.
The fact that we, as believers in Christ Jesus, can now experience the presence of God and its many accompanying blessings is simply a wonder. We must continually celebrate God’s grace and generosity in including us in His plan to impact and change the world for His glory. This is also because the world cannot be impacted and changed for His glory except men and women who are filled with the Spirit of God take their place with the preaching and ministry of the gospel of Christ Jesus.
This is what the apostles did as recorded in the book of Acts. Indeed, the believers in those days literally impacted households, comnunities, towns and cities with the Holy Spirit and power as they lived and preached the gospel.
Today’s verse is a powerful foreshadow of how you and I must impact households, communities, cities and nations for Christ Jesus. This verse is a question that came from Pharoah after Joseph provided divine answers to his dreams and impacted Egypt and the world at that time.
Genesis 41:8 shows us Pharoah’s situation before Joseph was recommended and brought to him from prison: ”Now it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled, and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt and all its wise men. And Pharaoh told them his dreams, but there was no one who could interpret them for Pharaoh.” (NKJV)
It is this kind of situation that required a man of the Spirit like Joseph. Joseph, like other men and women of the Old Testament God used for special tasks at certain times, had the Spirit of God only upon them. You and I have more than that. We have the Spirit of God in us and upon us. Because we have more, we must produce more; more answers, more solutions, more healing power, miracle working power, especially as we minister the gospel of Jesus Christ to our world.
Why are you here as a man and woman of the Spirit in your community? Because you carry the answers your community and the world needs.
PRAYER
I praise you, Father, for your divine plans. You thought it wise to make the church your vehicle of change in this world through the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you for this privilege and for the experience of the infilling of the Holy Spirit. Like Joseph, I am ready to provide answers to the questions and needs of my world, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
