TOPIC : USE YOUR SPIRITUAL AUTHORITY
SCRIPTURE: MARK 16:17 (NKJV), And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues
As a result of God’s plan of salvation, the believer in Christ Jesus has spiritual authority over all demons or evil spirits. This is in sync with our identity as kings and priests in Christ Jesus (Rev 1:5-6). Evil spirits are part of Satan’s company and operational force. They carry out his works for him. The good news is that, as a believer, you have the divine and legal authority to deal with them whenever and wherever. Why?
This is because you are born again in Christ Jesus, and you share in the authority Christ Jesus has (Rom 8:17). Indeed, as believers, we represent Christ Jesus on earth as His body; He being our head. Notice that in today’s verse, Christ Jesus said, ”In my name they will cast out demons_…..”(NKJV).
The phrase, ”in my name_”* means *”in my place, in my stead, acting on my behalf or representing me.” The believer represents Christ Jesus on earth and shares the same authority Christ Jesus has. It is much the same as a sent person sharing and using the authority of the sender.
Matthew 28, verses 18-19 say, And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ”All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore…”
Christ Jesus shared his spiritual authority with us believers when He sent us to preach the gospel, among others. Why did He do this? First of all, it is to enable you and I walk in continual victory in our personal lives. It is also to equip us to carry out the work of the gospel, ie, winning souls, healing the sick, delivering those oppressed by satan, building churches, etc. To do this effectively, He also made sure that believers have the authority to deal with all evil spirits at all times.
It is important that you learn to use your authority as much as it’s necessary. Satan will try as much as possible to attack and hinder you with things like sickness, fear, anxiety and poverty. You must determine to take a stand against him, use your authority over him and all evil spirits, and enjoy your victory in Christ Jesus. Don’t settle for anything less. You are a victor in Christ Jesus. You have what it takes to keep the enemy off your life, property and territory. Don’t just sit down and complain. Arise and act!
CONFESSION
I acknowledge my spiritual authority in Christ Jesus. By this ability, I am able to exercise dominion and control over all evil spirits anytime and anywhere. I resist any fiery dart, any evil word and any evil plan satan may stir up against me in Jesus’s name. I deny the enemy any room in my life. Jesus is Lord. I am an overcomer!
