YOU CAN PRAY THE RIGHT WAY

SCRIPTURE : I JOHN 5:14-15
(NKJV)

” Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.”

Thanks be to our Father for bringing is into His family through our Lord Jesus Christ. Hopefully, we will
continue to know Him better and to serve Him better as we keep learning to walk with Him. Today, let us learn something about prayer. You and I are expected to grow in our ability to pray. Failure to do that can get us unnecessarily anxious and discouraged, especially when we experience unanswered prayer.

There is one main thing I want to share from today’s verse. It has to do with God’s response to our prayer. What do I mean? In order to be fully sure that God will definitely hear you and respond when you pray, you must ask according to His will (ie HIS PROMISES). This means asking according to His promises or what He has already promised, especially in His Word. Notice, ” if we ask according to His will, He hears us.” Isn’t that wonderful ?

On the other hand, if you don’t learn to ask according to His Will, He doesn’t hear you. This means God will not hear you or He will not give you audience. This shows why we must learn His promises so that we can pray more confidently and be sure also that He has heard our prayer. God only answers prayers based on His promises. His Will is His promises and His promises are His Will. Indeed, His promises are in His Word.

It is this approach that gives you confidence in Him that once you ask the Father for anything according to His promises, the answer is guaranteed. Why? Because He heard you and has responded. Therefore, in case I am not feeling well and I stand on Matthew 8:17 to claim or ask for my healing in Jesus’ name, then it’s a done deal. My body will thereafter begin to catch up with what has already happened ( my healing) in my spirit through my prayer.

Notice Matthew 8, verse 16-17, ” When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: “He himself took our infirmities And bore our sicknesses.” (NKJV)

Praise be to God! Jesus took my infirmities, bodily weakness, sickness, and any physical infirmity. Glory to God! I am healed. I am strong physically. Healing is mine and divine health is mine. I am victorious.

PRAYER
I thank you Father for the privilege of prayer. It is so refreshing to know that I have audience with you, especially through prayer. I know that I can turn to you for fellowship and also for help in times of stress. The promises of Your Word give me all the assurance I need that you have heard me and have answered my prayer too. With confidence, I receive my answers in Jesus name, Amen.

COLLOSIANS 1: 9-12
[9]For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
[10]that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;
[11]strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy;
[12]giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.”
