REGULAR FELLOWSHIP IS GOD’S WILL FOR YOU
REV. EKOW ESHUN.
SCRIPTURE: HEBREWS 10: 25 (AMPL)
”Not forsaking or neglecting to assemble together [as believers], as is the habit of some people, but admonishing (warning, urging, and encouraging) one another, and all the more faithfully as you see the day approaching.”
Our daily walk as believers is a lifestyle that has not been left for us to determine on our own. Our verse for today particularly deals with our duty towards fellow believers. Without this kind of understanding, it is very likely that in our ignorance and self-centeredness, we will destroy our relationships with other believers and still wonder why we did so. Praise God for the knowledge of his Word! We can all make a difference in the lives of our brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus and experience mutual growth.
I want to highlight one important thing in this verse for our meditation and action. We are encouraged to assemble with other brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus for regular fellowship. Infact, this is a very important spiritual obligation and a great blessing as well. In the wisdom of God, He intended that we grow and make progress not only as individuals but also in a community or group.
The early church demonstrated this very beautifully as Acts 2, verses 44 and 46 reveal; ”Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common,…”
”So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart” (NKJV)
Praise be to God! Having Fellowship with other believers, under God’s appointed leadership, is one important means by which we can give and receive from other believers for growth, mutual blessing and progress.
It is important to note that we are told not to forsake this fellowship. Why? Satan’s tactic has always been to deceive and convince some individual believers to isolate themselves from fellowship with other believers. By so doing, these believers deny themselves of the spiritual nourishment from their pastors and the encouragement and support of other believers which our open scripture prescribes; ”but admonishing (warning, urging, and encouraging) one another, and all the more faithfully as you see the day approaching.”.
Often, the result is that it becomes easy for Satan and his demons to attack them and destroy them with all kinds of overwhelming problems. Ask yourself today; “how would life be like without the company, friendship, love and constant support of other believers in Christ Jesus, especially those from your local church?”
PRAYER
I thank you, Father, for the enabling grace to love and to gather with my fellow believers, especially as I walk with you. In obedience to your word, I determine to encourage my brothers and sisters in Christ always to do things that are edifying and helpful to them. I am thankful for your grace, therefore I will never get tired of gathering with brethren for church meetings in Jesus’s name. Amen.

COLOSSIANS 3:9-15
[9]Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds,
[10]and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him,
[11]where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.
[12]Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering;
[13]bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.
[14]But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.
[15]And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.
