YOU ARE EMPOWERED TO BEAR HIS FRUIT
SCRIPTURE: JOHN 15:5 (NKJV)
”I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”
Apostle Paul reminds us in II Corinthians 5, verse 15 that, ”And that He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.” (NKJV)
Once you believe and receive the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour of your life, you come into a new life. This life is primarily a spiritual life, because it takes place in your spirit which has become new. Indeed, your new spirit now carries the divine nature of God. This new life therefore, is a life you don’t live for yourself, but for Him who loved you, died for you and rose again.
Now that Christ Jesus lives in your spirit by the Holy Spirit who is joined with your spirit, you and the Holy Spirit have become one Spirit according to 1 Cor 16:17; ”But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.” God’s divine nature and life dwells and flows in you because the vine and the branch have the same life. Since you are joined to Jesus Christ, you have the same life that Jesus has. The Spirit of God will be stirring your heart constantly and seeking to showcase Christ Jesus through you. This is what today’s verse deals with; how you can bear the fruit of the Spirit.
Jesus clearly said, ”am the vine, you are the branches.” Based on the divine relationship you have with God through your Lord Jesus, you can and must bear divine fruit. As his branch, you can bear his fruit, the fruit of Christ Jesus. This is also called the fruit of the Spirit in the book of Galatians 5 Verse 22 says, ”But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness…” (NKJV)
Fruit usually grows on the branch. Fruit bearing speaks of displaying the character of Christ Jesus. You are the branch that carries the nature and life of the vine, Christ Jesus. As a branch, you have become God’s showpiece now and you can and must showcase Christ Jesus’s character to all you interact with, both believers and unbelievers. Because of you, someone will see Christ’s character.
Take the opportunity, child of God. Let the character of Christ Jesus shine through you through the divine fruit of the Spirit you can bear. Someone’s opportunity to see Jesus Christ depends on this divine fruit you can bear.
CONFESSION
The life of God is at work in me. As branches carry the life and nature of a tree, I carry the nature and life of Christ Jesus, the Vine who dwells in me. I express the divine character of God daily and its fruit manifests in and through me to bless others. My old life is gone. My new life in Christ is on display now. I am a blessing.
