GET INVOLVED IN THE FATHER’S BUSINESS
SCRIPTURE VERSE: I CORINTHIANS 9:16 (KJV)
”For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of, for necessity is laid upon me; yes, woe is me if I do not preach the gospel!”
Our life on earth must serve a unique purpose. The Lord did not put us here on the earth for mere existence, survival or comfort. He put us here to represent Him as his children and ministers, and to let the world know about him and receive him through the preaching of the gospel. The preaching of the gospel, therefore, must be a matter of great concern for us.
This is because God has already made adequate and total provision for the salvation of the entire humanity. He sent a saviour in the person of our Lord Jesus to the world. The unsaved of the world are no more God’s responsibility. The rest is left to us, the church, to preach the saving gospel of Jesus Christ to the unsaved. This must be the concern of every disciple of Christ. Apostle Paul reminds us of this business of preaching the gospel. He called it a ”necessity.” This need stirred his heart and it must stir our hearts too.
It is important to remember that no matter how successful a person may seem to be in our eyes, they are nothing in God’s sight without Christ Jesus. Some of these people are our friends, neighbors, school mates, even brothers and sisters, colleagues at the workplace, etc
It is our divine responsibility to preach to these people about the need for Jesus Christ in their lives. It is God’s desire that all such people get saved (1 Tim 2:4). That is why disciples of Christ are called Christ’s ambassadors in II Corinthians 5:20; ”Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ,…”
Ambassadors represent their government in a foreign country. Then they work to bring the people of the foreign country and their government to do business with their home country. That’s who we are. We are to bring the world of unbelievers to receive Christ Jesus our Lord. This is why we are here on earth as disciples of Christ, and this is why this business cannot and must not wait. We must act now.
Does soul winning really burn in your heart ? Do you really get concerned when you meet people who don’t know Jesus as Lord and Savior? What about your friends, colleagues at work and others you often meet and know? Do you consider them as souls that you must plan to speak to about the Lord Jesus and win? Is this necessity a great concern to you? This business cannot wait.
PRAYER
Holy Father, my prayer is that you will ignite a new passion, yearning and fire in my heart for lost souls. May you also empower me afresh to see opportunities around me that call for sharing the gospel with those who do not know Jesus Christ. Thank you for my salvation in Christ Jesus. Thank you also for the opportunity to be a soul winner and to reach others with the message of salvation in Christ Jesus’ name, Amen.
