ENJOY THE BENEFIT OF REGULAR MEDITATION
SCRIPTURE: JOSHUA 1:8 (AMPL)
”This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.”
In your walk with God, knowing his Word is very important. It is your manual for the Christian life and also for a truly, godly and successful life. Your responsibility as a disciple of Christ is to investigate, discover and apply the Word for your life’s progress.
In the process of being a doer of the Word, the matter of meditation is integral. We are told clearly in today’s verse to meditate on the Word day and night. This means you should make it a point to meditate habitually. Certain questions, therefore, come to mind.
What does it mean to meditate? There are levels of meditation. First, to meditate means to imagine, picture or visualize the Word of God. Secondly, to meditate means to muse, mutter or to quietly think over or ponder, contemplate or reflect on something. For example, whilst pondering over the Word, you silently and softly speak the Word to yourself so that no one hears you. Thirdly, It also means to boldly confess or roar the word. Why is meditation so important ?
Meditation is one practical way God speaks to His children. God often speaks to his children in ways that require us to be quiet in order to hear Him well. Why is this so? Because God speaks to your spirit. Remember that God is a Spirit. This is how you can grow in the skill of hearing and recognizing God’s voice. A lot of times, the noise around us and on your mind often hinders you from hearing God clearly from your spirit.
Meditation also helps to bring you a fresh understanding of the Word. Usually, insights from scripture and new ideas for action and success are often released during meditation. This is because once your mind gets quiet, it is often easier to recognise the voice of God and the thoughts and ideas coming from the voice of the Spirit of God. Meditation also programs your mind to be willing and able to do the word of God or to act upon the Word.
Meditation, therefore, is a necessary habit to help you hear God’s voice better and more clearly. It is very helpful therefore for you to practise meditation on the Word regularly because it is a necessary ingredient you need on your way to success.
PRAYER
I thank you, dear Father, for the creative power of your Word. My life continues to make progress as I apply your Word. I am greatly encouraged by the help of the Spirit which is intended to help me succeed in all my ways. I wholeheartedly embrace the habit and discipline of meditation so that I can hear Your voice better. Your grace is sufficient for me in Jesus’ name. Amen.

[10]With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments!
[11]Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.
[12]Blessed are You, O Lord! Teach me Your statutes.
[13]With my lips I have declared All the judgments of Your mouth.
[14]I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, As much as in all riches.
[15]I will meditate on Your precepts, And contemplate Your ways.
[16]I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word.
