MAINTAIN A TEACHABLE ATTITUDE
SCRIPTURE: PROVERBS 12:1 (TPT)
”To learn the truth you must long to be teachable, or you can despise correction and remain ignorant”
The truth of God’s Word is one primary agent by which God changes and shapes your life for success. As a child of God, you are reminded in 1 Peter 1:23 that, ”having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever” (NKJV)
As you allow the power of God’s Word to work in you continually, you move from just being born again to becoming Christlike and successful progressively in character and power. Today’s verse emphasizes one basic attitude we need to cultivate continually so that the Word you hear can continue to transform your life powerfully.
It is the attitude of being teachable. To be teachable means to be willing to learn, willing to comply, being open to correction, and to be obedient. The opposite is therefore true of a person or a Christian who is not teachable. Usually such a person is not willing to learn, not open to correction and often won’t submit to God’s Word and to leadership.
Apart from the Word of God being one important agent of change ordained by our Father, He also uses leadership to help shape and change you for the better as you yield to His Word and the correction of the same leaders for progress. It is important to remember that the Christian who has understanding and is maturing sees correction, compliance and change as God’s way of making him or her a better person who will keep making progress.
You need to recognise also, that every word we receive either directly from God or your leaders will often mean changing something, correcting something or complying with some directive or instruction. His blessing is in your compliance or obedience to the instructions you receive.
Make it your aim to stay teachable at all times and in your dealings with your leaders. Also, cultivate the attitude of being used to any change, correction and compliance that comes with God’s Word and your leaders too. That’s the path of the wise and it guarantees progress at all times.
PRAYER
I bless you Father for the change and fruit your Word is producing in me. I acknowledge the workings of your Spirit in me, enabling me to comply, yield to correction and to keep growing into Christlikeness. Thank you for grace so that I can maintain a teachable attitude in Jesus’s name, Amen.

Hebrews 5:7-12
[7]who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear,
[8]though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered.
[9]And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,
[10]called by God as High Priest “according to the order of Melchizedek,”
[11]of whom we have much to say, and hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing.
[12]For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.”
