TOPIC : YOUR CHANGE BEGINS WITH YOUR THINKING
REV. EKOW ESHUN
SCRIPTURE : ROMANS 12:2
(AMPL)
”Be ye transformed (changed) by the renewing (changing) of your mind(thinking)……….”
Every word of God that we receive will often demand that you and I change something in our lives. CHANGE: this word inspires some people and troubles others too. To some, it means work; to others, it’s a welcome opportunity to a better life. What does change really mean? Simply, it means that things don’t remain the same. The difference between a living thing and a non-living thing is seen by the many changes living things go through; respiration, circulation, excretion, reproduction, etc. Change, therefore, is an evidence of life. The fact of the matter is that, ”it is impossible to grow without change.” This is one very basic truth I want to remind you about.
The willingness to change and the readiness to change are things you must learn well and do so quickly. Infact, when you think about it well, you will realize that change must be your great friend and ally.
Today’s verse teaches us clearly about change:
”Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].”
The progress of your christian life depends on how you constantly adapt and adjust your thinking to be consistent with the principles and realities of the Word of God. Your whole life then can manifest this change in your mentality, attitude and orientation. A thinking that is changing for the better, therefore, equals a life that’s changing for the better. How does this happen? How does my thinking and life change?
This is where God’s Word comes in. The hearing, reading, studying and meditation of the Word is the beginning. The understanding and application of the Word then follows. The result is a better or transformed life. The person who never changes his or her opinions and thinking can never correct his or her mistakes and improve in life.
If you and I will see a transformed life in Christ Jesus and progress in general, then change must be your friend. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you (and helps you to change). Christ means “the anointed One.” One reason for the anointing is to help you to become and to do what God instructs you to do. Welcome to change! Don’t fight it. Embrace it and work with it. It’s time to renew your mentality. Your life can’t remain the same.
PRAYER
Father, I thank you for a better understanding of change. I am more aware now that my life will get better in every way as I embrace change by working on my thinking. I am confident of progress, especially because of the help of the Holy Spirit who dwells in me. My expectations will not be cut off. Victory is mine in Jesus’s name. Amen.

ROMANS 13:11-14
[11]And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.
[12]The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.
[13]Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy.
[14]But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.”
