TOPIC : YOU MUST BE A UNITING AGENT

SCRIPTURE : I CORINTHIANS I : I0(KJV) ”Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.”

As a believer there are some basic principles and practices that are very important for your progress and the progress of your church in particular. These practices require constant attention. My heart is especially stirred up by today’s scripture verse. It is about walking in agreement or unity. Why is this so important?

Groups of people cannot achieve much without walking and staying in agreement. Agreement makes groups and identified bodies of people get results better and faster. Agreement and Unity helps to remove impossibilities, hindrances and all satanic opposition too. We need this attitude in our homes, our local churches, amongst pastors, deacons, church workers and members.

No wonder Apostle Paul is literally pleading with the Corinthian believers to do 2 things as a sign of agreement and unity. Firstly, they were to speak the same thing as declared by their leaders. Secondly, they were to be perfectly joined together in the same mind and judgment with their leaders.

Consider Genesis 11:6 too. ”And the Lord said, “ Behold the people is one they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing will be restrained from them.” (KJV)

Nothing will be restrained or withheld from any church when members unite to follow their leaders and act in agreement with them. Our agreement backed with united action is crucial for our collective wellbeing and the fulfillment of our God – given vision. Therefore, each and everyone of us must play our part and ensure that we are saying the same thing, with the same mind and with the same judgement.

Let us not tolerate or accommodate any kind of disagreement or division in our meetings, services and business of our churches. It hinders progress. We must say the same thing our leaders are saying and act in harmony with them.

This is New Testament Christianity. This is how we can move forward collectively, fulfil God’s vision for us, and glorify God. Tolerating division and disagreement is negative and satanic.

PRAYER

I thank you, Father, that staying in agreement and unity are your will for us as a family and church. We do recognise that discord and division must not be tolerated in our ranks if we can stay united as a family and also fulfil the vision we are pursuing. Thank you for grace to stay together and work together and not break ranks in Jesus’s name, Amen.

*HEBREWS 10:21-25* [21]and having a High Priest over the house of God, [22]let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. [23]Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. [24]And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, [25]not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
