YOU CAN OVERCOME FEAR AND INACTION

REV. EKOW ESHUN.

SCRIPTURE: PROVERBS 22:13 (NKJV)

”The lazy man says, “There is a lion outside! I shall be slain in the streets!”

A sluggard is a person who is habitually lazy. They don’t take action on the things they can and must do. Very often, they are known to give excuses as to why they won’t make a move. Learning to take action on God’s Word and doing so promptly is so important for you as a believer. There is no progress for the believer who won’t take action on what God’s Word says.

Unfortunately, it is common to see believers who don’t take action on God’s Word. Why is this so? Why are some believers too sluggish to act? It is clear that sluggish people often struggle with fear. Today’s verse reveals this.

The unwillingness to act is often rooted in an imaginary or real fear. Such attitude is also called timidity, inertia, indecision etc. Some people’s fear is imagined, that is, it’s in their mind. For others, their fear stems from present or past experiences. This means it’s based on a real life situation which happened to them or someone else or an experience which they are facing now. But listen to what God has said to us in his word in 2 Tim 1:7-
”For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

When you allow your mind to dwell on anything negative or fearful, you give place to satan. Painful experiences like sickness, broken relationships and such like can also induce fear into people. Whatever fear you struggle with is rooted in satan’s devices. The lazy person, because of the fear of either an imagined or real “lion” therefore decides not to act. Fear produces timidity, procrastination, indecision and eventually failure. This is something the believer can and should overcome.

Hebrews 13, verse 5b to 6 reminds you that; ”For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you. So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?””

Take a stand against fear. Make a bold declaration against it. Continue to affirm God’s active presence in your life. It is the source of your victory over fear. Fear is satan’s tool to rob you of a glorious life in Christ Jesus. Be determined, resist the devil and walk in your victory in Jesus’s name. Amen.

CONFESSION
I acknowledge my faith in Christ Jesus and my victory over any form of fear. By the power of the Holy Spirit who lives in me, I walk in boldness and I take constant initiative on God’s Word as I hear and believe it. By my actions, my faith brings me supernatural results. Glory to God!

[5]You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
[6]Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
[7]A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you.
[8]Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked.
[9]Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
[10]No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
[13]You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
