CHOOSE LIGHT
SCRIPTURE: PSALM 119:130( KJV)
”The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.”
One of satan’s greatest weapons against mankind is spiritual blindness. There are some things he doesn’t want you to know. For example, he doesn’t want you to know that he is a defeated foe. Also, he doesn’t want you to know he is a thief. Furthermore, he doesn’t want you to know he is a liar. II Corinthians 4:4 tells us that ”The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” (NIV)
This verse tells us clearly how unbelievers are blinded by satan so they cannot see the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ. But what about believers? Are we spiritually blind too? No. We are not spiritually blind. We receive enlightenment at the point of salvation through God’s Word and God’s Spirit.
Remember that II Corinthians 4:4 talks about the light of the gospel that enables us to see Christ Jesus as saviour before we actually receive Him as Lord and Saviour. After we get saved we must then grow in our knowledge of the Word so that ‘our light’ can get brighter for at least 2 reasons: Firstly, to help us see things as God sees and secondly, to help us live the life of victory as he expects us.
Look at our verse for today. Psalm 119:130; ”The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.” Praise God! The entrance of God’s Word into our hearts and minds as we hear and receive them imparts light to us. This is one of the ways our understanding gets enlightened and influenced for the better.
This is how our thinking gets renewed and influences our actions, behaviour and character positively. No wonder Romans 12:1-2 tells us that we are changed in character and behaviour by our renewed or changed thinking. No real life and character transformation can take place in the life of the saint without the regular reading, study and application of the Word. This is fundamental to the christian life.
You cannot grow without this. You cannot prosper and be in health without this. Your soul can’t prosper without this. Satan knows that when his captives and victims get to know the truth (the Word or the Light), they will be set free from his influence and control. John 8:31-32 reads ”Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (KJV)
The Word gives light. Desire more of the Word. Ignorance of this truth of God’s Word can cause you to become a victim of satan’s control and influence. Choose light. Choose to learn the Word. Make up priority and be safe.
PRAYER
Father, thank you for giving me the Holy Spirit to be my teacher. I yield myself to the Holy Spirit to develop the discipline of reading and studying the Word. I pray also that by the power of the Spirit of God, my decisions and actions will be guided accordingly so that my life will please you in Jesus’ name, Amen.

[9]For you remember, brethren, our labor and toil; for laboring night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, we preached to you the gospel of God.
[10]You are witnesses, and God also, how devoutly and justly and blamelessly we behaved ourselves among you who believe;
[11]as you know how we exhorted, and comforted, and charged every one of you, as a father does his own children,
[12]that you would walk worthy of God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory. Their Conversion
[13]For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.”
