HOW TO OVERCOME SENSE KNOWLEDGE

SCRIPTURE: II CORINTHIANS 5:7 (NKJV)

”We walk by faith and not by sight.”

Today, let us answer an important and direct question. What is sense knowledge? It is knowledge or information obtained from your five senses of sight, touch, taste, hearing and smelling. These five senses give you information from the environment around you. If your christian life is going to make progress, then this is one contest you must surely face consciously and win on a daily basis. It’s the contest between your five senses and your faith.

The inability to overcome sense knowledge explains why a good number of Christ’s disciples of today focus on their circumstances and end up depressed and discouraged rather than focusing on God and His Word for constant victory. Unfortunately, these disciples are more used to what sense knowledge tells them more than what the Word of God tells them. Indeed, it takes real dependence on the Holy Spirit and some discipline among others to focus on God’s Word in the way you live and act in order to overcome sense knowledge.

When you focus on your environment, circumstances and challenges, you will often fail to see the bigness and ability of God as it really is. Bear in mind however, that God lives in you and therefore His ability is also at work in you. However, when you focus on God and His Word, then the challenges look less intimidating because this awareness of God’s ability in you and his bigness dominate your spirit and mind especially. This is part of what it means to live by faith.

It is so important to be more conscious of what the Word says rather than what circumstances indicate. Hebrews 1 :3 tells us that,
”God upholds all things by the Word of His power.” Think about it: when you compare your situation to the things He has done, you would realise that there is more in God that you have not yet seen and experienced.

The real question we are confronted with therefore, is not about God’s ability. The real question is whether you will believe his Word and use your faith to change your circumstances. That is why you need to learn practically how to live by faith and master it. One important part of it is to learn to affirm and confess what you believe from the Word. Why? Because your faith can never rise above the level of your confession. Remember this.

Tell yourself today, “I am an overcomer. The Spirit of God dwells in me and is actively energising me daily. I walk in victory everyday. I affirm that I am blessed and enabled by grace to succeed over all obstacles. My sufficiency is of God and I am adequately supplied in every area of my life.” As you keep saying and affirming the Word like this, your faith will start rising in your heart. This is one sure and important way to conquer sense knowledge and experience victory.

PRAYER

Father, I thank you that your grace is sufficient for me and your help is always available to me. Indeed, your mercies are new every morning and therefore I declare your sufficiency over my life continually. Thank you that as your child, I carry your divine nature. I therefore walk in victory and exploits
in the name of Jesus. Amen.

II CORINTHIANS 4: 16-18

Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,
while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
