THE POWER OF PATIENCE
SCRIPTURE: HEBREWS 6:13-15 (NKJV)
For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, saying, “Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you.” And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.”
One of the reasons you have come this far in your walk with God is because at different times of your life, you probably had to endure one trial or another and overcome them. This is normal for every Christian. Because we are instructed to walk by faith and not by sight, endurance becomes the fruit the Holy Spirit helps you to bear, especially when your faith is tested by storms and time.
It is said of Abraham, after he had been promised the blessing of multiplication of his seed by the Lord that, “…. and so after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.” (NKJV)
Abraham’s example of patience and endurance is very important for you to learn from. Often, it is the big difference between the manifestation of the Word and disappointments in the lives of Christians in particular. Abraham was undoubtedly a man of faith. However, he needed to learn patience and endurance largely because time, contrary circumstances and apparent delay tested his faith.
To the Glory of God, Abraham obtained the promises God gave him. His experience should be enough inspiration for you to walk with the Lord more closely and believe Him more fervently. There are some who have become jittery and weak in their faith and are struggling to hold on to God’s promises. The lack of the fruit of patience and endurance robs some Christians of the enjoyment of certain blessings and the fulfillment of certain prophecies from the Lord.
The qualities of patience and endurance are very necessary as you go from week to week, month to month and year to year in your walk of faith. The year is only a few days old. You can’t afford to let some failures and disappointments of the past continue to steal your joy. Your hopes, dreams and prophecies will manifest as you continue to walk in patience and endurance.
Determine to continue to believe, stay patient and emotionally stable in this new year. Faithful is He who promised you so do well to cooperate with Him.
PRAYER
I bless you Father for your faithfulness towards me. I acknowledge your constant goodness in my life this new year. You have never failed one of your promises. My prayer is that you strengthen me by your Spirit in the inner man so I can keep my focus and maintain endurance in every trial. I am confident that patiently, I will pass the test of endurance and experience the manifestation of your Word to me in Jesus’s name, Amen.
